With today's focus on saving the environment, investing in green solutions is a unique niche. The hole in the ozone layer is growing, lakes and rivers suffer the effects of toxic waste, and acid rain threatens wildlife. We are now moving toward a better future with electric cars and recycling but that may not be enough to turn things around.

Each year new companies form that produce environmental products or services. Both political and celebrity figures are sounding the alarm. Moms are teaching their children to love and respect the earth. There are numerous programs to raise awareness and change things now so the future generations will have a place to call home.

Existing companies are also starting divisions that focus on environmental product. They've analyzed and determined that it's profitable to gain a share in the environmental markets.

Investing in these companies is not only profitable as more people become environmentally conscious but it also reduces the adverse affects of the damage already done on the planet.

One product that doesn't get much exposure but is vital to the environment is hardwood trees. These trees have many uses including improving air quality around the world, supporting energy initiatives, and being an alternative fuel source.
